Sir Lakhaji Raj Vegetable Market RAJKOT

This vegetable market built just outside Raiya Naka gate was the first modern building built at that time outside of fort wall.  It was built in 1934 A.D. It catered to the population living in periphery of old town.  The building displays a fine example of steel truss supported on steel stanchions.   A noteworthy feature of this building is its spatial articulation of trussed roof on a curving plan.   This building is in a fine state and commands awe and respect of the masons and craftsmen of Rajkot.

Displayed are the set of sketches redrawn from my sketchbooks. 

It was year 2004 when my friend Allen Shaw gifted me my first proper sketchbook crafted at Kalaraksha, before this, I used to sketch on any available paper or books. This inspired me to 

do the documentation of my journey. today I have over 50 sketcbooks, where all events of my 

life have been recorded in form of a sketch, sketches ranging from classroom exercise, office 

work, trips, pilgrimage essentially every facet of my life even the tough times when I had to deal 

with the passing away of my elders. 

This set of sketches are dedicated to all design students who have been associated with me 

during all these years all for the love of sketchbooks and sketching.

Christ Church Rajkot.

Sketching with IPSA students,  This Christ Church, was constructed in 1849 by the Rt. Rev. Thomas Carr D.D. the first Bishop Bombay. This church was built to cater the needs of the European Christian Community stationed at Rajkot during the British regime.   The cosmopolitan character. The forms and spaces are very supportive to architecture students for their basic perspective study programme.

An antique bell from Jamma masjid tower was stolen, a tapori was caught for this robbery & jailed for few days !
But what about the Big bell ? 
who is the actual culprit ?.... 
a tapori who took away the bell ? or admin people who converted the simplicity of mosque to their so called comfort in the name of modernity ?
May be, we the society who ruined the Hierarchy of tower for our personal pleasure?
